People don't read anymore. I'm not talking about books or magazine/news articles (they don't read any of those either, why do that when a video can tell you stuff), I'm talking about things like basic instructions.
Take r/goth for example. The rules are clearly posted and if we have to remove a post we tell you why. People come storming into modmail or angery posting without reading why all the time. As a case in point we had a lot of Fashion Friday posts this week and most (if not all) will be culled. I am expecting a few who haven't read the rules or the removal reason to angery storm somewhere as most are from new people and lurkers.
And then there is post flairs. Sometimes it feels like the only flairs that exist are "Goth Club" and "Old School '80s" because people don't care enough to flair their posts right. Sure it may seem officious and anal retentive but there is method to it. You can search using the flairs so having things in the right flairs means your posts can be found. And you want to be heard and your post seen, otherwise why even post it?
So what's got you down/mad/annoyed/angery/enraged this week? Goth related or not it's all good here. But the goth stuff does get more attention as it should. Pro tip there.

I've been asked to step in as our usual host is not here…
So get whatever you need to off your chest, whether that's someone labelling AC/DC "goth" or something not goth related at all…

Sisters of mercy is coming HALF AN HOUR AWAY FROM ME however… I'm 16 and my mom would never let me go alone. I have no goth friends or Friends that are willing to just chaperone me. I'm so sad. I'm sure future opportunities will come up but this is so unfortunate

Sisters of Mercy are touring USA. You'd think this would be a good thing, yes? But noooo, people are complaining because they aren't the band they used to be, use a hell of a lot of smoke machine, Andy can't sing as well as he used to and they play music in a more (pardon the pun) hard rock/Vision Thing style.
Yet there are also people saying yay because they are touring USA and it is an opportunity they will likely never get again. Ironically they have been to Australia 3 times in the past 10 years (once with a music festival, a proper tour in 2019 and again in 2022) where most bands tour USA a lot and never come here.
I saw them twice in 2019 and loved both shows. Then again I like Vision Thing era though my favourite Sisters era would be the pre-album singles/EPs "Some Girls Wander By Mistake" era. And they are a bucket list band for me. That said, I went into it having heard all the people poo pooing them so I wouldn't have been surprised if they were terrible. Hell few bands maintain their prime when they have been around 40 years, especially with numerous line up changes. But even if I thought they were bad it still would have been worth it.
Part of it could also be certain parts of the world are spoiled for choice. So given the high quality they are used to Sisters could very well have been under par. Where here in Adelaide we are more likely to take what we can get because few come here. I compare this to places like Melbourne too where most bands tour thinking an Australian tour is Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and maybe tack on Auckland or Wellington in New Zealand too. Let alone comparing to larger cities that constantly see international acts like London, New York, Los Angeles or Berlin.
So go or do not go. But judge by what you see, what you like and not by what other people say. Make up your own mind if Sisters are worth seeing or not by how big a fan you are and if you can afford it.

So… how about that coronation? I haven't watched it and mostly avoided the memes by simply being busy IRL but it was a thing. We could argue about the waste of money of it all or whether the royals are good or not. But there is nothing goth related in that.
Anyway… if you feel the need to express your feelings about it you can do that here. Or about anything else – goth related or not. For the people new to Unofficial Seething Sunday this weekly thread is like a release valve to blow off some steam.
(For the record I am not a fan of the royal family and believe Australia should break away from the Commonwealth and become a republic. But that won't happen as we enjoy kicking everyone's butts at the Commonwealth Games too much and we have too many old money British royalist politicians)

I try to come up with something interesting and creative in the description posts for Unofficial Seething Sunday but sometimes I draw blank. Today is a blank day. Been sleeping a lot and brain function isn't far off auto-pilot right now. I guess I really needed the rest today.

So get this. I was DJing at a near sold out event on the weekend. I'm talking to the door lady and manager after my set. Big ups for the crowd filling the place in the first hour of opening. Venues love that stuff and it encourages them to have you back. This was a non-goth event, I wish this happened at goth ones as people tend to go do other things early then rock up whenever almost as an afterthought. Nice to work at an event where the crowd appreciates what you do and don't take you for granted.
So out of all the people who loved it there was one dissenter who had to immediately express their complaint to the door lady as he stumbled out the door to leave. From what I was told he arrived very drunk about 3 hours after opening and had pre-bought a ticket. He said he was very disappointed and was expecting something bigger.
At the same time the house was rocking at 96% capacity, the dancefloor is full and the vendors are making a killing in the front room. It went so well the venue owners are very keen to have us back.
Like… what was this guy expecting? A warehouse rave with 1000 people? It is a small-ish venue and we pretty much filled it (around 100-120 capacity). Our last event was at a venue of a similar size. We aren't inflating expectations and satisfaction can never be guaranteed.
Plus it was my daughter's first night out since she turned 18. She loved it. She also had a hand in my song choices.

Been helping my son with his first job. He is a catalog mailbox dropper type person thingie. He was pretty happy he bundled up 125 last night. I did 263 between last night and today. Trying to lead by example on good work ethic practices to get the job done. Will probably lead to him thinking Dad will do it when he's lazy. Boy will he be surprised…
I hope Tuesday doesn't suck for you too much. Until next Friday.

Lately people have been saying I don't put enough goth into these posts. Which works well for me because it makes them mad and gives them something to post about. Win/win all round.
With that in mind, there will be no goth in this post this week. But given a great majority of you don't even know what goth is (or think it is 4-5 old 80s bands and little more) that probably won't bother many of you. Though me throwing shade at such people might bother them now I have said it.
So whether you know what goth is or not, feel free to yell about it here. Get it out of your system. Unleash the wrath!

Once upon a time there was a happy little goth who lived in a decent sized city. The city had regular goth club events, goth bands regularly toured there and goth music was accessible through local record stores. Things were plentiful thanks to online resources and low cost, fast postage due to bands being near by so band merch was easily accessible. The happy little goth had everything they want and remained happy.
